Hershey, PA

The 1000 Trails campground we are staying at is beautiful. Great big grassy spaces. And they let us extend the time we are staying. Got the DataStorm up and running – kind of – the TV works but can’t get the Internet to come up. Too many trees? or too many clouds? – don’t know. But the park has a good free Wi-fi system we can use. Everything is working fine in Alfie.
Just checked the weather – chance of rain for the next seven days. So much easier to travel in the west. It may be hot but at least it’s dry. Just stayed in campground rest of day. The Driver is having some problems with his back. Hope it’s just cause of the sitting and driving so much.
Tuesday – Cloudy and cool. Went into town of Hershey and out to Chocolate World. Zillions of kids! Talk about “kids in a candy store” and half of them were crying ‘cause their folks wouldn’t let them buy one of everything. Any way. I had read about the tour of the factory. Disappointment! It was a “simulated” tour of the factory. You got in a little pod and rode through a RIDE. Kind of like Small World with singing cows instead of children. It was interesting and the smells were great but not what I expected. It was free – the only thing there that was free. Even with senior discounts museum $9, gardens $9, trolley ride $14 – not quite that interested. Did buy a couple of things, a small milk can – for the can not the candy in it. A pin and a shot glass that has a chocolate smelling candle in it. Smells real good. Hershey had quite an interesting life though, married a girl from where I was born, Jamestown, NY. Together they built the company. He built the town. And a big school for disadvantaged children.
Didn’t spend much time in little town of Hershey – will go back there when the sun is shinning one day. Did find the local Wal*Mart though –
Not long after getting back to campground the skies opened up and we had a downpour. By evening it was clear again.
